Junior Blockchain Accountant

Company: General TensorLocation: Fully remoteReports to: Chief Financial OfficerExperience: 0–2 years

:About the role

General Tensor is hiring a Junior Blockchain Accountant to work directly with our CFO as we prepare for our first audit. You’ll be hands-on with on-chain data and centralized exchange (CEX) accounts — pulling transactions, reconciling activity, and helping assemble the financial statements that will go through audit review.

This is a high-visibility seat for someone early in their accounting career who is genuinely fluent in crypto. You’ll get a direct line to the CFO, ownership of meaningful workstreams, and a front-row view of how a crypto-native company closes its books and stands up audit-ready financials.

What you’ll do:

  • Pull and reconcile transaction data from on-chain wallets across multiple networks (e.g., Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin) using block explorers, RPC endpoints, and crypto sub-ledger tools.
  • Reconcile CEX accounts (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, etc.) — pulling API exports, normalizing trade and transfer activity, and tying balances to the general ledger.
  • Classify on-chain activity (transfers, swaps, staking, gas, fees, rewards) and ensure transactions are categorized consistently for accounting purposes.
  • Build and maintain basic financial statements — income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow — with crypto holdings, gains/losses, and fiat activity properly represented.
  • Support month-end close: journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Help prepare audit workpapers, PBC (prepared-by-client) requests, and walkthroughs for our external auditors.
  • Partner with the CFO on ad hoc analysis, treasury reporting, and process documentation.

What we’re looking for:

  • 0–2 years of accounting, audit, or finance experience (Big 4 / regional firm experience a plus, but not required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA track is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and the mechanics of building financial statements from a trial balance.
  • Real, demonstrable crypto fluency: you can read a block explorer, follow a transaction across wallets and contracts, and explain what a swap, bridge, or staking reward actually is on-chain.
  • Comfort with CEX account exports and APIs, and the patience to reconcile messy data.
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; bonus points for SQL, Python, or experience with crypto sub-ledgers (e.g., Cryptio, Bitwave, Integral, TRES).
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote, async environment.

Nice to have:

  • Prior exposure to crypto audits or experience supporting a financial statement audit.
  • Familiarity with DeFi protocols, staking, or validator economics.
  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-currency accounting.

Why join?

  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with the CFO on a foundational moment for the company.
  • Real ownership and visibility from day one.
  • Fully remote, with a team that takes both crypto and accounting rigor seriously.
