Opportunity

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build and maintain the most popular source connectors at Airbyte: database connectors. Building these connectors will require you to go deep into each database and understand its approach to write-ahead logging and information schema management. You will use that learning to efficiently pull data from these databases as well as build Change Data Capture (CDC). You will build the framework for extracting data efficiently from these systems. The ultimate goal is make Airbyte's database sources the undisputed industry leaders.

 

What You'll Do

  • Drive project design and build Airbyte's database sources
  • Guide product decisions and the team roadmap with engineering perspective
  • Engage with the open-source community via events, Slack, or pull requests
  • Grow the people around you through mentorship
  • Drive and participate in major architectural initiatives 
  • Build leverage: a week-long task this year should take ten minutes next year

 

What You'll Need

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience. Hiring at all experienced levels!
  • Experience in profiling and optimizing high performance applications
  • Proficient in Java
  • You take a user-centric approach to building products and developer tools
  • You enjoy building abstractions & tools which multiply output
  • Excited to work remote
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • A passion for continuous learning and improvement (both at a personal and team level)
