About the role

simplehuman is seeking a entry-level Associate Industrial Designer/Model Maker to join our Design team. This role will help build models and prototypes to help us refine early concepts. S/he will be part of a multi-disciplinary group of product managers, engineers, and designers that develop our innovative, modern products.

This is a full-time, on-site position in our Torrance, CA office.

Key Responsibilities:
• Create prototypes and components from 3-D model files supplied from design/engineering teams.
• Use 3d printers, laser cutter, and other shop equipment to create medium to high fidelity prototypes.
• Maintain tools shop and 3D printers.
• Edit/tweak 3D model files to optimize for 3D printing.

About You

• Current ID/Mech Eng student or Bachelors in Industrial Design/Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience working with Model Shop materials and equipment such as model board, wood, metal, plastics, urethanes, power tools, hand tools, etc.
• Experience with 3D printers required.
• Proficiency in shop processes and safety procedures for tool use.
• Proficiency in Solidworks.
• A lover of clean, modern design.
• Builder/tinkerer with assembly and/or wrenching skills. Do you build FPV drones/bicycles/furniture/cars?
