On our team, you will not only dream up solutions to today’s investment challenges, but you will build them to see real-life results. At Wellington Investment Science we are a diverse group of engineers, quants, and scientists conducting ongoing quantitative research; constantly innovating, developing, and adopting recent technologies; and building products to improve investment returns for our clients. Our suite of applications includes dashboards that present insights on datasets as well as interactive coding and research publishing tools to empower our analysts to easily deploy and disseminate their research. We are seeking a lead UX designer to join our expanding investment science team and play a key role in building our next generation of products, with a great eye for elegant design and user experience.



Investment science plays a key role in how we think about investing at Wellington. Our scientists and engineers produce research and build products that improve our investment decisions. This includes tasks like building our next generation data platform, building predictive models, and improving our understanding of a portfolio’s risk. The Lead Systems Analyst (UX Designer) will play a key role within the team by focusing on the human experience of our products with the objective of bringing utility, usability, aesthetics, and impact to our products. This individual will also help us increase our users' (portfolio managers) engagement and adoption.  This position requires strong analytical skills, with a high attention to detail, and a desire to analyze and solve complex problems. Successful team members are self-starters with the ability to multi-task and work on a variety of assignments with people across the organization. Excellent organization, communication, and delivery skills are required. Applicants must be team players with a desire and willingness to learn.



·       Interaction and visual design through being involved at every stage of design work, from early product concepts to iterating on, and improving existing applications

·       User research by working closely with our users, portfolio managers and researchers, to conduct in-depth user interviews, understand their workflows, and learn how they use our products

·       Prototype products both to communicate your designs and validate your decisions

·       Partner with our engineers to realize your designs

·       Engage engineers as partners and collaborate with them to prototype and build out products

·       Partner with researchers and scientists to determine the best ways to present their research intuitively and effectively



·       Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a design related field, or relevant UX design experience

·       Prior years of experience designing and delivering products in the software, ML (Machine Learning), data science or quantitative modeling areas

·       Portfolio demonstrating one or more software interface design projects

·       Experience with a mix of the following mockup and prototyping tools: Sketch, Framer, Principle, Figma, InVision, Balsamiq

·       Knowledge of how software interfaces are built

·       Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React is not required, but a plus, to collaborate with engineers and know what is possible with modern front-end frameworks

·       Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills

·       Excellent analytical and problem skills.
