Orbio uses satellite imagery to track methane emissions from the oil & gas industry. We sell the data to operators that want to monitor methane and reduce emissions at scale.

On the role

We are on the lookout for a passionate Data Scientist who is able to work with remote sensing data and loves experimenting with new algorithms, physics and machine learning. You’ll jump work with our team of scientists and engineers to develop & improve our Methane Emissions Intelligence pipeline on processing global satellite data for detecting methane emissions.

What you’d be getting involved in:

Collaborating with product managers, data scientists and software engineers at Orbio to:

  1. Develop state-of-the-art emissions detection models to improve our detection and validation of methane emissions.
  2. Enable additional streams of geospatial data into our pipeline. Contribute to and peer-review parts of our existing pipeline for Methane Intelligence
  3. Ensure the scalability, performance and reliability of our methane emission detection systems in production environments

Types of people we are looking for:

  • Extensive experience with remote sensing data
  • Proficiency with Python
  • Extensive experience working in agile software teams (GitLab, Sprints, etc.)

A Great Plus: Machine learning or geophysics background and experience in using those in remote sensing applications with overlaps on: deep learning, computer vision, optimization, denoising, signal processing or time-series analysis.
