What we're looking for Flashbots is seeking a General Counsel who will play a pivotal role in defining our regulatory strategy and shaping the narrative of our organization in a clear and comprehensible manner. The General Counsel must be attuned to the unique market structures within the crypto industry, translating regulatory expectations into a system that best suits our unique positioning. This role is not just about managing existing legal and compliance matters but also about envisioning a future landscape where Flashbots continues to thrive.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

• Providing legal advice and guidance to the executive team and other departments.

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and legal documents.

• Managing and overseeing regulatory filings, licenses, and permits.

• Developing and implementing internal policies and procedures.

• Conducting legal research to stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations.

• Managing and collaborating with external legal counsel when necessary.

• Assessing and mitigating legal risks and potential liabilities.

• Participating in strategic decision-making and providing guidance on legal matters.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in the bar association.

• Extensive experience in legal practice, with a focus on regulatory compliance, financial services, or cryptocurrency.

• Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as securities, anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), and data privacy.

• Experience working in or with the crypto industry, understanding its unique challenges and opportunities.

• Proven track record of successfully managing regulatory issues and compliance programs.

• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior executives.

About Flashbots Flashbots started in 2020 as a research and development organization formed to mitigate the negative externalities and existential risks posed by Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) to smart-contract blockchains, starting with Ethereum.
