Our mission isn't just lofty words: we've deliberately focussed our product and GTM around the industries that actually matter to human welfare. Through this strategy, even though we're a small startup, our customers are therefore some of the world's most important institutions in sustainability, financial services, infrastructure, healthcare, education. We focus on the needs of these highly regulated spaces, which means delivering product that's not just incredibly powerful but also:

Unlike other SaaS providers, we aren't just another vendor to these companies: they sign 6 figure contracts with Credal because they're betting on us as a partner to help them transition to an AI first operation. Our usecases aren't just chat with docs, but core, fundamental operations central to the business, like KYC and AML at Wise.com, Standards Setting at the IFRS (ask your accounting friends who they are, they definitely know) or Infrastructure optimization at Mongodb.

Hypergrowth: we’re growing like crazy, signing new household names and 6 figure deals on the regular.

We have 0 churn. We defined our ICP customer mid last year (Any 100+ employee company or institution) and intentionally offboarded all the bad fits we’d signed up in our early, more experimental days. Since then, no customer has ever churned from Credal.

NRR - 170%: So far, on average, each existing customer contract expands by 70% YoY. One of our customers cut 30% of the staff in a RIF due to the market slowing down, and didn’t cut a single dollar of their spend on Credal, we were that vital. That means we’d be growing even if we didn’t sign any new customers (which obviously, we’re doing all the time).

Our win rate on commercial deals is 73%. We have never lost a deal to a competitor. (We occasionally lose deals because a customer chooses to build it in house, or do nothing)

Our team has seen 5x IPOs and 3x unicorns. Other startups boast about having a team with people from one elite company or another, but we’ve built a team of the star performers at those companies: Palantir, Cruise & Uber, Pinterest & Bolt, Google, Citadel. Everyone on our team has references that testified that they are one of if not the best person they ever worked with (this is part of our hiring criteria, and we’ve had to not make offers to folks when they didn’t meet this criteria).

Our burn multiple is less than 1, aka “Amazing”. We burn less cash than we generate in ARR, which means profitability is purely a question of choice. We see immense potential for growth so we choose to invest, but it would be straightforward for us to turn profitable without cutting headcount.

Our market is gigantic: we have proven the ability to sign big six figure deals (biggest one has >$250k annual value) with household names like Mongodb and Transferwise, but we also win the hottest scaleups like Incident.io and Traditional Enterprises like IFRS. Virtually no comparable seed stage startup can say that.

This role requires a strong background in software development, including experience in front-end technologies such as React, CSS, and Typescript, as well as back-end technologies such as databases, server-side frameworks, and APIs. Additionally you’ll:
- Be comfortable shipping in an extremely fast-paced environment and embody our cultural principles around outcome orientation and biasing towards action.
- Be ambitious - we’re working on an incredibly hard problem and are looking for people who are energized by challenges.
- Be customer-focused - care about addressing the challenges our customers encounter, using their feedback to continuously shape our product.
- Believe that AI is a foundational, transformative technology with the potential to make the world vastly more abundant in the stuff that matters to human welfare: healthcare, education, energy & climate, financial services etc.
Experience in any of the following is great to have but not required:
- Working in highly regulated environments with rigorous data security requirements (healthcare, finance, government, etc).

👷♀️ About the Role
The founding software engineer will work closely with the CEO and CTO to develop the core product offering.
The nature of this work will change in a fast-moving environment but typically involves a combination of (depending on your background):

Working with AI/LLMs: Improving the performance of our Retrieval Augmented Generation platform by experimenting with foundational LLMs and novel cognitive architectures and retrieval techniques. Help define industry standards for how to leverage generative AI in enterprise settings.

Working on our data platform: Making improvements to our data platform to ingest, transform, and embed customer data for use in generative AI applications. Optimizing the data infrastructure’s performance and scalability to ensure reliable and timely data integration.
