We are seeking a Lead Backend Engineer with a deep interest in DeFi and trading automation systems. The ideal candidate will be self-driven and have a proven track record in a leadership role within Web3. The ability to adapt to complex ideas, problem solve on the fly, and thrive in a fast paced startup environment is essential. You will play a crucial role in the project’s success by directing technical strategy, collaborating with founding team members, and proactively resolving backend system issues.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a backend software engineer
• 2+ years developing applications on EVM-based blockchains
• 2+ years designing and engineering scalable Web APIs
• Experience and proficiency with Typescript / Node.js on server side
• Some familiarity with DevOps practices (docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms)
• Previous experience leading a cross functional team of 3 or more team members
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Nice to have:

• Smart contract development experience (EVM)
• Some frontend experience (Next.js, React)
• Experience building DeFi and user-facing trading applications
• Good understanding of Account Abstraction standards (ERC 4337 & 7579)
• Knowledge of intent-centric system architectures

Responsibilities:

• Continuously adapt and improve the product by shipping new features or improving current functionalities.
• Deploy scalable backend services and APIs.
• Troubleshoot technical issues to optimize performance.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure consistent product quality.
• Develop maintainable and well-documented code.
• Interact with a wide range of DeFi protocols, calling their smart contracts to extract specific data when necessary.
• Listen to token data via WebSockets, quoting tokens at varying rates, and using cron jobs to execute transactions at specified times or based on certain parameters for condition-driven trading.
• Collaborate and troubleshoot with partner protocols to identify the most effective ways to integrate their products or infrastructure.
• Be a project manager: establish priority driven plans for managing deadlines and key deliverables
• Communicate with the development team on a daily basis.
• Require that teammates provide clear and succinct updates to ensure tasks are completed on time and in alignment with development schedules.
• Deliberate with the founding team to effectively adapt high-level concepts into concrete development outcomes.
