We aim to align the long term interests of the climate with the future of global computing infrastructure. As data centers consume an exponentially growing power footprint to deliver technology to all connected devices, we are inspired by making sure that the energy meeting that demand is sourced in an environmentally responsible fashion. Crusoe co-locates mobile data centers with stranded energy resources, like flare gas and underloaded renewables, to deliver low-cost, carbon-negative distributed computing solutions. Crusoe Cloud is a managed cloud services platform powered by stranded energy that enables climate-friendly innovation in computationally intensive fields including artificial intelligence, graphics rendering, and computational biology.

About This Role

Crusoe is hiring a Lead Designer to accelerate the growth of our carbon-reducing bitcoin mining software products. (Seriously! Check out our most recent ESG report.)

Our software powers bitcoin mining data centers across the US, Argentina, and soon the Middle East, where we cleanly combust otherwise flared natural gas and convert it to electricity for onsite computing. We’re now extending our reach, bringing our software products to energy producers and data center operators across the globe and reducing methane emissions with every deployment.

We’re looking for an enterprising Product Designer to lead the design function for the team. You will be an equal partner with Product and Engineering, collaborating closely with our team and our customers to simplify the complex business of operating and optimizing remote data centers. Your impact will span from interactive field operations tools to data center performance dashboards.

A Day In The Life

  • Champion the needs of our customers, and represent their requirements to the broader product team to help guide our product roadmap.
  • Lead product discovery conversations and use interactive prototypes to solicit feedback from current and prospective customers.
  • Use your deep understanding of customer personas to create simple, intuitive designs to meet them where they are.
  • Produce visual and interaction designs from concept to delivery. Lead the creation of a cohesive visual language across our products.
  • Create wireframes, journey maps, user jobs and scenarios, task flows, and personas in support of interaction designs.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to bring your designs to life, from interactive field operations tools to data center performance dashboards.
  • Define, build, and manage assets for our design system (e.g. user interface controls, navigation models, dashboard interfaces, content templates, icons, and form design).

You Will Thrive In This Role If You Have

  • 5+ years of experience as a product designer in a creative environment.
  • End-to-end design skills (from ideation to prototyping and development-ready design files).
  • Outstanding portfolio showing deep product understanding and craftspersonship, both UI and UX.
  • Desire and ability to drive user experience research and customer calls to best understand customer needs.
  • Experience building or designing software for tradespeople or technicians (e.g. energy, manufacturing, or construction) is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Thorough understanding of design systems (Figma Variables, Storybook, Atomic approach, Chromatic) and design theory (typography, color, grid, etc.).
  • Willingness to adopt new tools and workflows (we primarily use Figma).
  • Solid understanding of cross-platform design systems and technical frameworks.
  • Able to work with cross-functional stakeholders to drive consensus around design systems, branding, and development.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Thrives in ambiguity and sets goals.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a willingness to frame and define existing/emerging opportunity spaces and success criteria often within ambiguous spaces.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Embody the Company values
