The Role

Moxion is looking for a high-energy, bright individual to oversee our domestic payroll process which includes both exempt and non exempt employees. This role will be responsible for the review of the salary & hourly payroll processing, commissions calculation and processing, payroll journal entries, reconciliation, analysis and compliance associated with payroll.

An ideal candidate will be someone who will take charge of the entire payroll process and be an expert payroll resource for the entire company. You will drive timely, accurate, compliant payroll and improve end-to-end processes. We are planning on 2x our organization in the next year and need a strong Payroll Manager who will be able to scale with the company!

What you'll do:

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process as we scale our org
  • In partnership with the People team and broader org, oversee the implementation of process improvements, policies and tools related to payroll and adjacent processes
  • Work with accounting for the recording of payroll transactions in the G/L, including accruals
  • Serve as the main primary Payroll contact for employees as well as various external parties (auditors, system implementations, etc.)
  • Effective, accurate and timely filing of all employer payroll related compliance forms, withholding taxes and returns for all applicable jurisdictions. This includes collaborating with People Ops on the state registration process
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration on general payroll and equity matters
  • Actively participate with the wider Finance team in driving the People and Finance Systems roadmap, appropriately prioritizing initiatives and helping to ensure automated solutions are implemented timely and effectively
  • Assist with or be responsible for other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned

Skills to be successful:

  • 4+ years relevant work experience in payroll
  • Experience with Payrolls for 200+ employees, including both exempt and nonexempt
  • Experience in interacting with external parties including auditors and other service providers
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
