About the interview

Full Stack Coding (Take Home)

You will create a full-stack website implementing the user stories specified in the prompt.
We will ask you to spend no more than 3 hours on this problem. The 3 hours do not include setup time for setting up your coding environment or your project scaffolding. Your goal is to make tradeoffs so that all the user stories in the prompt are implemented_._

At Stepful we use Ruby on Rails, React and Postgres, but for this exercise we highly recommend picking the stack that you are more familiar with.

The take-home is followed by a review call (1h long) where you will present the work you have done. We would love for you to walk through and talk about decisions and tradeoffs you have made and we will also ask you to add one more feature during the call.

System Design

This is a live 1h long call where you will pretend to be a tech lead at Stepful. We’re working together on a project to design a distributed, scalable, application from scratch, and you’re leading its design. Your goal will be communicating the design and architectural decision to the engineer on the call and brainstorm with them on the scalability of the system.

Onsite

You will be invited to our NY office for the last round of interviews and to meet the rest of the product engineering team. The interview program can change based on the technical screening, but here is an example
