TL; DR

Diligent uses Large Language Models to help financial institutions and fintechs to automate and enhance customer due diligence for fraud and anti-money-laundering.

We are growing and looking to hire a Founding ML engineer to help us keep up with growing product demand and improve our risk detection capabilities.

The problem we’re solving

1. Globally, over $2 trillion dollars worth of money is laundered every year and more and more fraudulent activities are spotted each day
2. Over the past few years, businesses entities have been exponentially used as fronts for fraudulent activities, such as the sale of counterfeit products, unauthorized high risk activities and other financial crimes.
3. Detecting and stopping these entities is responsibility of the financial institutions that move and proceed money for them (banks, payment companies etc) but the way these institutions approach these controls is through basic heuristics and simple data points which just don’t cut it, or alternatively deploy an army of people running very repetitive and ineffective investigations
4. This is both
   1. inefficient (frustrated team members, ops costs) and
   2. ineffective (only a small fraction of illicit activity is caught)

How we’re solving this problem

Diligent builds LLM agents that financial services companies (banks, payment companies, lenders etc) use to automate risk investigations during business onboarding and monitoring.

For example, we can help investigate the online presence of businesses to detect high-risk activities, identify reputation-compromising signals, comb through news articles to extract new risk insights etc. By turning scattered and unstructured data points into structured, actionable insights, we enable risk teams to make better and faster decisions.

The Role

You are NOT an employee, you are part of the founding team.

You’ll play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company - from hands-on engineering and product work, to high-level strategic decisions.

Strategic Involvement — You will work closely with the founding team on key company steering and strategy decisions, helping to shape the direction and future of Diligent.

Product Ownership — You will own end-to-end development of key product modules, from ideation through deployment, ensuring that our solutions meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.

Engineering Leadership — You will lead engineering streams, developing and deploying LLM-based solutions to enhance due diligence and risk assessment processes. This includes ensuring the scalability and reliability of our AI services.

Customer Engagement — You will engage with customers to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements, ensuring our products solve real-world problems effectively.
