Job Purpose:

The Team Lead – Kubernetes Operations is a hands‑on technical leader responsible for the ownership, reliability, and evolution of the organization’s Kubernetes platforms, while leading and developing a team of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs). This role blends deep technical expertise with people leadership, platform strategy, and operational excellence.

You will be accountable for the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of Kubernetes‑based clusters across on‑prem and cloud environments, ensuring they are secure, stable, scalable, automated, and aligned with organizational standards. This is a hybrid role with flexible onsite expectations, typically 1 to 2 days per week. New employees are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 times a week during their first three months to support onboarding and collaboration. #

Accountabilities:

• Work on migration and new projects, implementing Kubernetes platforms both on prem and public cloud
• Assist Platform and Development teams with application deployments on Kubernetes platforms
• Collaborate with Technology teams to coordinate project deliverables to convey infrastructure requirements, plan, and schedule deployment of tasks and resolve any issues that impact the deployment of the platforms
• In charge of technical designs for Kubernetes platforms (OpenShift, AKS) and their integrations with on-prem and public cloud applications
• Design standards and governance for the Kubernetes platforms and project deployment pipelines and monitor adherence
• Be responsible for the success of technical project delivery/work product.
• Design, plan, manage, maintain, and support any technological duties associated with the platforms the team supports.
• Collaborate in the design of technical solutions for platforms running on Kubernetes for both on prem and public cloud
• Responsible for implementing and supporting Kubernetes platforms and ensure that they are in compliance with the technical strategy, policy, and standards
• Be a subject matter expert on OpenShift, AKS and container ecosystem
• Responsible for defining the Kubernetes platform maintenance cycle and ensure that Kubernetes platforms are updated accordingly
• Work with the development and infrastructure teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines into platform deployment as well as OpenShift and other Kubernetes based platforms where applicable
• Provide leadership, oversight, and guidance for technical deliverables as assigned.
• Determining Kubernetes platform acquisition/implementation costs and procurement/resourcing strategies; establishes system and Kubernetes platform requirements/priorities/directions to support system integration, alignment and compliance with technology strategies, policies, and standards.
• Provides technical leadership, guidance, and direction to multi-disciplinary teams/project staff on all aspects of platform planning, design, implementation, and ongoing support
• Responsible for overseeing the evaluation of new Kubernetes based platforms and tooling
• Responsible for gathering system requirements working together with architects and owners
• Responsible for generating scripts and templates required for the automatic provisioning of resources
• Stay well-informed of failures and complications related to Kubernetes platforms.
• Responsible for debugging technical issues inside a Kubernetes platform involving virtualization, containers, microservices and cloud.
• Technical ownership/leadership of Kubernetes based platforms
• Lead design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices.
• Technical expert within the team and have a broad scope of overseeing projects implementation and support activities
• Collaborate on the design technical infrastructure needed to support the Kubernetes platform and coordinate its procurement, installation, and integration.
• Collaborate and help team in all phases of analysis and design for applications, system, hardware, and programming activities; should have good understanding of product architecture.
• Accountable for Kubernetes based platform deliverables including deployment code, build scripts, templates & capacity planning.
• Drive significant technology initiatives across all aspects of the design and deployment
• Use project’s best practices and deployment standards.
• Write and review technical specifications.
• Manage and document projects, including system architecture, delivering within target profit margin, delivery metrics, and to plan.
• Participate in creating project plans and help set timelines.
• Keep the team focused on the common goal.
• Coordinate and partner with additional business units and teams.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues.
• Lead sessions with the team to design new system components.
• Identify efficient solutions to complex requirements.
• Verify that architecture and design specifications have been correctly converted into running code.
• Make decisions on resource needs, assignments, and timelines to complete short- and long-term projects and daily operational tasks.

• Work with project managers to identify and capture resource requirements.
• Work with Solution Delivery Senior manager to ensure a plan is in place to meet resource requirements.
• Collaborate with business/technical partners on platform features and technical roadmaps.
• Contribute to backlog grooming sessions for supported products/lines of service.
• Make decisions on technical roadmaps for Kubernetes based platforms.
• Establish the team’s vision and turn it into reality
• Manage the team – (Regular one-on-one, team meetings and performance management)

4-year degree (preferably in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or similar).
