Halluminate is an applied AI and data company working with frontier Labs (ex. OpenAI, Anthropic, etc) to train Financial Services Super Intelligence. We do this by building high quality computer and tool-use RL (Reinforcement Learning) gyms to train AI agents that do work across financial services verticals. (ex. excel modeling, powerpoint creation and more in Investment Banking, Private Equity, Hedge Funds, etc.)

The company recently graduated from YCombinator (S25) and raised a seed round to scale their team and support growth.

Halluminate is looking to hire Founding Members of Technical Staff to own platform engineering, develop frontier long-horizon RL environments, and help build our engineering org from the ground up.

The responsibilities of this role include:

• Building software to 10-100x the quality and throughput of RL environment creation
• Create platform analytics to track data on our RL environment costs, hours, bottlenecks, and subject matter expert management
• Crafting domain-specific verifiers for financial services verticals and beyond (ex. verifiable rewards for powerpoint building, excel modeling, quantitative trading)
• Research and develop next-generation RL environments that are increasingly realistic, long-horizon, and difficult for frontier models.
• Establish engineering culture and practices from the ground up

Necessary Skills Include:

• Familiarity building evaluation / benchmark / RL for AI agents
• Smart usage of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, etc. while also implementing best practice testing / code quality attention to detail
• Startup Speed: Iterate quick, ask questions quick, respond to messages quick, make mistakes quick
• Product / user ownership, ability to prioritize between a large roadmap of features
• Client-facing capabilities - you need to be comfortable talking to users/customers

Nice To Have:

• Research backgrounds (ex. training models, publishing papers)
• Experience with early-stage startups
• Previous experience working with data companies (ex. Surge, Mercor, Handshake)
• Side projects involving AI Agents / RL
