About Swayable

Swayable is a fast-growing, cloud analytics product that measures public opinion and the impact of messages and advertising content on it. It is a 30-person team backed by top technology and social impact investors, including Y Combinator. Founded in 2018 by two physics PhDs, it is led by the former Executive Director for Digital Strategy at the New York Times. Clients include major consumer-facing brands (Amazon, Airbnb, Square, Paramount Pictures), researchers (MIT, Yale, Stanford) and mission-aligned advocacy campaigns (including multiple Democratic Presidential candidates).

Joining Swayable means being on a team whose work changes the course of history. The technology we develop is at the leading edge of transforming some of the world’s most important campaign organizations and enterprises: combatting disinformation, protecting democracy, and supporting the sustainable growth of consumer-facing brands.

About the role

As the Director of Product, you will work closely with the rest of the senior management team to direct the work of building and extending Swayable’s product offering to realize its ambitious growth goals. That means identifying the needs of current and future customers, and bringing together Swayable’s business and technical stakeholders to coordinate the best thinking, ideas and work, keeping the platform at the forefront of innovation and trust in the industry.

Responsibilities:

*Coordinate with engineering leadership, designers and company business stakeholders partners to create specs and implement features

*Establish a deep, intuitive and trusting relationship with the company founders and leadership team to realize the vision and translate it into compelling product and feature hypotheses

*Manage and continually improve our product development process, balancing opportunity for stakeholder input with clear, efficient and transparent decision-making structures

*Establish a deep, intuitive understanding of the users, customers and market

*Own the product life-cycle from planning to tactical execution

*Continually improve how we track and quantify product love, user engagement and growth

*Own the business case for our product investments, leading analysis to estimate costs, growth and returns and the product metrics that drive them

*Lead active user research so we know our users, develop the right problem statements, and ideate the right hypotheses to solve them

About you

*Highly excited to play a central role in the growth phase of a high-performing startup, comfortable with ambiguity, and bringing with you the experience you need to succeed in this role

*Crystal clear communicator: you can hear other people’s ideas and make them sound even more compelling

*Deft manager of cross-functional working sessions: agendas are on-point, sessions are well prepared, people feel heard, and the group’s time is managed effectively

*Known for being exceptionally organized: self-managing effortlessly, prioritizing and re-prioritizing easily, and leading others - not just direct reports - by providing structure that lifts the game across the organization

*Empathetic: you understand other disciplines and can translate concepts and needs with grace

*Design thinker: you actively develop deep empathy with the users’ experience - both with the product and beyond it - and lead cycles of divergent and convergent thinking to translate needs and insights into product and company advances, drawing on the best of the company

*Experience: You have 3+ years as a product manager of technology. B2B, data science, and startup experience preferred.

Our team is based in New York city, with hubs in San Francisco, LA, Portland, and Washington DC. In-personal availability is strongly preferred, ideally in New York.
