You must have the right to work in the UK for your application to be considered, thank you!
Raileasy are looking for a talented product designer to work with our technical engineering team, as we scale up our product offering, introduce new features and look to refine existing customer journeys to improve usability.
We're looking for somebody UK-based who can work with Figma, and has an ability to create visually appealing designs and prototypes for both desktop and mobile platforms, as part of work on product enhancements and usability improvements.
Based in London, we are an independent retailer of train tickets. Our systems power a number of established brands in the UK rail space (particularly where split-ticketing is involved) such as TrainSplit (our own brand), Realtime Tickets [from Realtime Trains], SplitMyFare, Railboard and others. We provide B2C and B2B web and mobile applications under the TrainSplit and Raileasy brands and compete successfully with some of the largest players in the retail space, despite having a small team.
We are interested in someone who is passionate about creating consistent, high quality user experiences and end-to-end customer journeys. You should be able to produce visually appealing designs that balance brand consistency, regulatory requirements and overall usability. Previous experience in transport would be an asset, but is by no means a requirement.
Your work should be user-centric and follow accessibility and inclusive design principles.
Users should be delighted when using your work, and you will be experienced at designing for emotion to produce a positive user experience and retain customers.
You will be creating and maintaining shared UI libraries, patterns, and templates in Figma, so experience with Figma or a tool such as Sketch is essential.
You should work well in ambiguous spaces, identifying problems and crafting clear, impactful solutions which make the user experience better.
Proven ability to create strong visual and interaction designs, as well as prototypes, for both desktop and mobile platforms, evidenced through portfolio (e.g. Dribbble).
Understanding of web and mobile accessibility requirements and the ability to implement these into designs for products
A graphic design background
As a small organisation, our team members have a general willingness to wear different hats. We would want your overall focus to be on product design and UX, but there may be other small design work projects that you could help with (e.g. showcasing the apps by working on marketing collateral) that assist with overall growth, and any assistance here would be appreciated. Nevertheless, we wouldn’t see this as a core part of the role.
Experience being involved in usability research to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a design
Ability to break down complex problems (which are abundant in rail retail!) and achieve a balance between flexibility/power and ease-of-use
An interest in public transport/rail
By no means do we expect you to have domain knowledge, we’re happy to give full training on rail domain matters that you would need to know
