THE ROLE

We are looking for a passionate Applied Machine Learning Engineer to transform our customer’s unique business problems into successfully deployed ML solutions.

In this role, you will join our growing team to uncover the customer’s technical goals, challenges and technology stack. As the key end-to-end technical point of contact for our customers you will plan how MindsDB can best help customers to overcome their challenges and ensure their final outcomes are delivered quickly and effectively. You will own customer deployments, get customers into production and keep them ecstatically happy as they grow into their new collaboration with MindsDB.

The Applied ML Engineer will work closely with the ML and Engineering teams, contributing in the design and implementation of new requested features through reliable, reusable code in MindsDB. This will often involve researching state of the art technologies, managing multiple projects and developing proofs of concept.

This is a hybrid role in the Bay Area - we are looking for a candidate able to come into the office a few days/week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be the technical point of contact for clients and prospective customers - relaying their needs, wants and any feature gaps to the Product team.
• Proactively understand potential customer’s business goals, and deliver successful state-of-the-art ML solutions.
• Partner with the Business Development team for initial discovery calls and customer on-boarding.
• Lead implementation/deployments of MindsDB from both an AI and software engineering perspective.
• Lead and ensure successful POCs.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to design and execute project plans.
• Build and lead tailored product demos.
• Become an expert in the MindsDB product and technology stack.
• Support your teammates across the company.
• Contribute reliable, reusable code to MindsDB python packages
• Effectively project manage multiple projects.

YOU WILL HAVE

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist / ML Engineer
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Confident in Python, SQL, Git, NumPy, Pandas, and one of PyTorch/Jax/TF/Keras

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience training and/or deploying large transformer neural networks
• Experience training and/or deploying generative ML models
• Experience with AutoML frameworks
• Publications in ML conferences or associated workshops
• Substantial contributions to other open source ML projects
