This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will contribute to the definition and development of spacecraft thermal control systems. This opportunity is for an Integration and Test Manager within the Integration and Test Integrated Product Team (I&T IPT). This person will manage a portion of the I&T team focusing on Vehicle level testing across Structural and Environmental requirements. 20-30% of your time will be dedicated to personnel/team management (hiring, performance evaluations, time cards, mentoring, etc.) while the other 70-80% will be as a test engineer or technical project manager (individual contributor).
Travel: Position nominally has about 10% travel with infrequent select periods up to 50% to support testing at remote sites. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work independently to develop test plans, test procedures and execute tests ensuring all steps and processes are followed, be accountable to the safety of the hardware and people involved in the test.
Integrate, coordinate, and triage engineering support across integrated product teams and test engineers.
Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team.
Lead their employees' professional development (e.g., performance evaluations, compensation and promotion management, and routine one-on-one development conversations) and coach them on career development.
Minimum Qualifications:
1+ years managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups
6+ years of experience in at least one specialty area applicable to space flight
Experience leading multidisciplinary development and verification tests, including managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and cost
Demonstrated leadership in establishing a high-performing safety culture
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with verification, integration, and test, of orbital vehicles or human rated spacecraft
Experience with pressurized gaseous hydrogen and/or oxygen system testing
Demonstrated drive to correct errors at their root and not pass them downstream
Demonstrated efficiency in implementing continuous improvement for processes, methods, and practices.
Familiar with agile project management
Experience with space vehicle design development and test
