Job Description We are looking for a Data Engineer with a focus on database design and maintenance, working across our Science and Data and Engineering teams, owning our internal data management and collaboration platform. We are looking for a self-driven engineer who brings fresh ideas and is able to maintain our database autonomously in a collaborative environment. We use the latest technologies, like Python and Pandas. We prioritise high scalability and development ergonomics and collaborate using GitHub. Responsibilities:

  • Design, maintain, and optimise existing data workflows, including data ingress, normalisation, QA and collaboration.
  • Automate data collection from different source format such as pdfs, automating ingress of new data points and their updates
  • Conceptualize, research and implement novel approaches to modeling multilingual semi-structured and hierarchical data, in the context of GHG data
Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, modeling, data pipelines, data extraction and classification and processing
  • Advanced knowledge of python (pandas, numpy libraries)
  • Practical experience with designing, building and maintaining large databases
  • Comfortable with GitHub-based collaborative workflows
  • Attention to detail, ability to work in cross-functional teams and collaborate
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong communication skills in English
Preferred qualifications:
  • Genuine interest in climate technology, sustainability, and a carbon-neutral economy
  • Proactive, passionate and curious about solving big and complex problems
Additional Information
  • Location: Berlin or Remote within +/- 2 hours of CET timezone
  • Starting date: as soon as possible
