This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations.

As part of a small, hardworking, and accomplished team of Integration Technicians, you will provide avionics/instrumentation support for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of launch operations. Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employee’s additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance.  Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or travel to Van Horn from another Blue location a minimum of 50% of the time.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Perform fabrication, installation and checkout of wire harnesses, ground support systems.

Work with sophisticated flight hardware, and instrumentation systems.

Perform test article integration and checkout.

Review, edit and follow test procedures and processes.

Operate test facility and ground support equipment.

General troubleshooting of Instrumentation, and flight avionics systems.

Collaborate with engineers on design concepts/improvements and development tests.

Safely work with hazardous chemicals and high-pressure fluid and gas systems.

Explore opportunities for continuous improvements to promote workplace safety and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience with Avionics test tools (Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators etc.).

Ability to interpret and follow electrical diagrams such as AutoCAD and P&ID drawings.

Demonstrate the ability to work with Test, flight and safety critical hardware.

Experience with Data Acquisition Systems and Sensors.

Familiar with low voltage Instrumentation and Control systems, 4-20mA signals, and thermocouples.

Able to work in remote locations on varying schedules to include multiple shifts.

Knowledge of High Voltage systems used in aerospace applications.

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

3-5+ years’ experience in propulsion facility/systems or launch vehicle operation, integration, or maintenance.

J-Std IPC 620 certification, NASA 8739.4 certification, or equivalent.

Strong aerospace and avionics background and/or military experience.

Experience with 38999 connectors and Mil-Std circular connectors.

Experience with WAGO push-in termination blocks, or similar type.

Experience with installation of strain gauges, LVDTs and other instrumentation components.

Solid understanding of a variety of rocket propellants, including, liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen and other cryogenics.
