The Gnar Company is a software consultancy seeking a Product Design Lead to continue to grow our User Experience Design practice. You'll be responsible for overseeing design projects, along with ownership, to ensure complete, high-quality work on time and budget.

This is a remote, salaried position with a strong benefits package and profit share bonus. This role reports directly to our supportive team of founders but is an autonomous role with responsibility to execute and manage design work. We are looking for someone who is a proactive decision maker, action oriented, a strong team player, and is comfortable leading our current design team to ensure deliverables are completed in a timely manner.

• Knowledgeable of modern web and mobile application design UI/UX practices

• An outstanding communicator (verbal and written) and time manager

Responsibilities

• Ensure we continue to develop an industry-leading design department

  • Determine quality standards and hold teammates accountable

  • Develop processes that encourage collaboration and a supportive culture

  • Support the growth of teammates

  • Provide specific, critical feedback to teammates in an empathetic manner

• Manage design projects

  • Work on projects in a wide range of industries and project sizes

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create elegant solutions to difficult problems

  • Lead multiple small project teams to deliver high-quality work on time and budget

  • Work seamlessly with other team members, both internal and external (engineers, business analysts, QA)

• Assist sales team by providing input on prospective design work

• Collaborate with existing design contractors 

• Develop strong positive relationships with clients

• Willingness to travel on the rare occasion for client meetings

You have…

• 5+ years designing software (web and mobile applications)

• 5+ years of design leadership/management experience

• A fondness for The Gnar’s brand identity

• Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, particularly Figma/FigJam

• Previous consulting experience

• U.S. citizenship (sorry, no sponsored visas.)

It’d be nice if you have…

• Experience writing UX copy

• Experience designing apps for React and React Native

• Research experience (user interviews, user testing)

Annual Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000
