Insight Global is seeking a Cloud Native Solutions Architect to join an agile development team at one of the industry leading consulting and advisory firms leading a critical effort to build modern web applications on an AWS cloud platform using cloud native tools and methodologies. This individual will be responsible for solution architecture, strategic direction and design input to develop modern web applications utilizing open-source technologies on the AWS EKS platform. The role will require extensive experience advising and build cloud-native web applications utilizing relevant open-source tools and technologies, and this individual should be comfortable working on a highly capable team with a highly capable end customer.
Additional responsibilities include:
Design and architect scalable, robust, and maintainable web applications.
Evaluate and research technology options and make engineering design decisions
Leverage open-source technologies and communities
Create and maintain architectural design documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, devOps engineers, and other developers
Interface between development team and product stakeholders
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in web development and architecture to continuously enhance the team's skill set and maintain our competitive edge.
Onboarding will be in person in Sacramento with quarterly co-location. This role will require 3-4 days per month of onsite work to start but will start to ramp down to 1-2 days per month as the project progresses.

Skills and Experience

8 years of experience in systems development, analysis, programming or testing.
5+ years with cloud-native, open source technologies and server-side frameworks specifically Node.js and/or GoLang.
5+ years with AWS and building cloud-native applications on AWS.
3+ years working with containers and orchestration, specifically Docker and Kubernetes.
5+ years with open source RDMBS technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and designing efficient data models
Advanced experience with DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies for project management
Understanding of security best practices and implementing measures to protect web applications from potential vulnerabilities
Bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Plusses

3 years of full-time experience, within the past five (5) years, producing and maintaining detailed technical architecture diagrams, documenting the logical and physical system architecture components, and establishing traceability between the business functions and system components.
3 years of full-time experience, within the past five (5) years, in a lead position and responsible for evaluating and recommending technology solutions and developing technical road maps using industry standard architectural frameworks that map/align with California and/or federal architecture frameworks and methodologies such as Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA), National Human Services Interoperability Architecture (NHSIA), and California Enterprise Architecture Framework (CEAF)
3 years of full-time experience, within the past five (5) years, developing prototype or a reference implementation of a system design as part of the elaboration of the system architecture to the engineering organization.
