The Design department at HoneyBook is searching for a systems designer to help shape the next phase of our design systems. As a Sr Product Designer you will collaborate closely with product design, engineering, and content design teams, to reimagine and reshape the ways to best work together, creating incredible experiences and interactions for our users, and leading the path to bringing our visual, interaction, UX and design language to the next level.

A scalable, intuitive, expertly built design system is crucial for our product teams to ship top-notch user experiences and advance the company’s goals. Our Product Designers use design system components to bring our members the best features HoneyBook offers, ensuring an intuitive, consistent, delightful experience throughout their user journey.

In joining the Design department at HoneyBook, you’re joining a cutting-edge, highly qualified team of designers and developers dedicated to bringing the best possible experiences to our users through a sleek, intuitive, state-of-the-art design system of multi-faceted, complex components.  You’re also joining a multi-disciplinary organization consisting of Product Design, Brand Design, Marketing Design and User Research teams; the Product Design team in particular works cross-functionally with just about every team from product to education, to deliver a unified customer experience and make things feel like HoneyBook.

We aim to equip our designers, engineers, and product teams with the tools to consistently and efficiently create exceptional products. Your commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible, and user-friendly experiences will shine as you champion the design system throughout HoneyBook.

Here are a few of the things you'll do:

  • Maintain and scale our existing desktop and mobile design systems in a way that fits our growing needs and delivers an exceptional holistic, system level experience to our users.

  • Collaborate directly with designers and cross-platform engineering teams to identify needs and define new HoneyBook components.

  • Work with UX researchers to understand our users’ needs and how they interact with our components to improve and evolve our design foundations.

  • Build and implement system-level interaction patterns that are reused across the product to increase consistency and reduce the learning curve for our users.

  • Uphold an effective design system process that helps unblock teams quickly, and maintains high design craft standards and system consistency.

  • Create detailed design documentation to support the design and engineering usage of our design systems.

  • Build for accessibility upfront in the creative design process, and advocate for inclusive experiences across platforms.

  • Work with engineers and PM’s to implement horizontal changes and updates to the product which clearly represent the HoneyBook brand and push our craft standards higher.

Interested? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • You have 5+ years of experience designing and shipping exceptional products for desktop and mobile and can provide examples of your recent work and its results.

  • You have proven expertise in leading complex design systems. You've helped build, evolve and/or maintain a design system in a growing organization.

  • Expert Figma skills, including component building, prototyping, and working with variants and variables. You’re up-to-date on all the newest Figma developments and capabilities.

  • You have a good understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and are able to effectively collaborate with engineers.

  • You have a track record of leading wide initiatives, collaborating with leadership, and leading without formal authority. You can motivate a team to build amazing products by getting the buy-in for your concepts and getting them to rally behind your designs.

  • You design with scale in mind. You understand how different parts of a system come together to create exceptional holistic experiences.

  • Expertise in creating the best methods and processes for designers and engineers to engage with the design system.

  • You have extraordinary visual, interaction, and system design skills.

  • You are an expert at navigating technical complexity and collaborating productively with engineers, and you know how to design iterative solutions.

  • Bonus: you are experienced with creating in-product illustrations.
