As an Electrical Engineer at Spaceium, you'll spearhead innovation by designing advanced avionics systems, PCBs, actuators, sensors, and data acquisition systems for our spacecraft. Your role will encompass avionics design, system integration, PCB development, component selection, and rigorous testing. You’ll collaborate across teams and be required to have deep expertise in power subsystems, high-speed board design, and aerospace industry standards, including designing for space environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop avionic subsystems, including board design, system design, avionics subsystem design, actuators, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
  • Create schematic layouts and select components for spacecraft electronic systems.
  • Design and layout printed circuit boards (PCBs) for optimal performance and functionality.
  • Conduct testing and analysis of electronic systems to ensure reliability and functionality.
  • Design power subsystems, including power conversion, DC/DC, and battery systems.
  • Execute high-speed board design techniques and demonstrate proficiency in PCB layout.
  • Handle complex PCB designs with a large number of components.
  • Understand avionic subsystem connectivity and protocols such as RS422, I2C, Ethernet, and CAN.
  • Adhere to industry-standard protocols and practices for aerospace design.
  • Implement design methodologies tailored for space applications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in avionics design or a similar role.
  • 1+ years of experience using software tools such as Matlab, C++ or Python

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Passion for spaceflight and high reliability electronic systems
  • Self-starter with experience making hardware work within demanding time and resource constraints
  • Creative problem solver with strong first principle fundamentals across multiple disciplines to assess risk and make design and development decisions without all available data
  • Experience at a nimble engineering organization or in a highly technical position that required a scrappy, entrepreneurial manner to accomplish tasks with tight time or budget constraints
  • Proficiency in schematic layout and PCB design tools.
  • Strong understanding of avionic subsystems and their connectivity.
  • Experience with industry-standard protocols and communication interfaces.
  • Knowledge of power subsystem design principles, including power conversion and battery systems.
  • Understanding of sensor technologies, actuator control, and data acquisition techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective coordination and documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Familiarity with aerospace design practices and considerations for space environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones.
  • Travel to Spaceium facility may be intermittently required
