As Chapter-Lead at FinCompare you are responsible for the functional excellence of people in the entire back-end profession. In tight collaboration with other leaders and engineers you focus on developing our capabilities that achieve great productivity, system-health and team health primarily.__ Your Key Responsibilities

  • You improve the hiring, training and general empowerment of back-end engineers and similar technical specialists in their respective functions
  • You drive our talent density with an eye on individual performance conducting feedback and development talks in an ongoing fashion
  • You foster a strong and engaging engineering culture as role-model within a remote team
  • You confidently own and shape technology and processes befitting a modern tech organisation
  • You take personal charge of especially hard blockers, high level technical initiatives and software-design related challenges
  • You nurture an effective DevOps Culture together with SREs
  • You improve the speed and quality of our software development and delivery
  • You ensure effective information flow from engineering to roadmap and strategic decision-making, both-ways
  • You discover and address technical and architectural impact hands-on
Your Profile
  • You have 3+ years of leadership experience
  • You have worked as a software engineer polyglot with both python and golang, each at least 2+ years
  • You have good self-management skills
  • You are known as someone who gives great insightful and actionable feedback
  • You have extensive experience with service-oriented architectures and legacy software
  • You enjoy planning, teaching and bringing people together in a remote-first environment
  • You have an “eye for talent”
  • As a servant leader who enjoys leading from the front, you say “it is done” more often than “we should”
  • You seek to handle stressful situations and unknown challenges with both, people and tech

  • moderate diversity of AWS-services (EC2, ELB, RDS, S3, Elasticsearch, Elasticache, SNS/SQS, Secret Manager)
  • ELK Stack, Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry.io, Jaeger
  • All software dockerized, different cluster environments including a flexible of cloud-dev environments
  • Mostly github-based CI
  • Unit-Tests & integration-/API-Tests (Gherkin-based)
  • Github, Slack, Atlassian Jira
  • “Maker Time” - engineers don’t have too many meetings
