This role is hybrid in San Francisco (2x a week) in the office in the SoMa district - but we are pretty chill and if you want to work remotely for a week or so or have some more deep work that’s totally fine✨

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a front-end-focused engineer who also has proficiency in back-end technologies and enjoys tackling customer-facing product challenges. This role will be reporting to our Engineering Manager, who directly corresponds with the CTO. You will closely with the Product Manager + Designer to collaborate on requirements and be responsible for the end-to-end design and implementation of the requirements.

Our application orchestrates the processing of tens of thousands of paychecks every week, positioning us as a one-stop solution for payroll management for businesses nationwide. Our platform streamlines the onboarding process for new employees, assists with tax setup, and provides a seamless workflow for employers to run payroll and manage salaries and checks.

SOME THINGS YOU MAY BE WORKING ON

  • Build UI components, so customers are able to get started quickly with our product by using them as external modules in their application
  • Design and implement enhancements in our web app, which serves multiple types of dashboards tailoring to user types while also prioritizing a clean, simple, and seamless user experience
  • Modify REST APIs, update schemas, and query our MongoDB that operates on a Node.js Express server as a part of frontend projects
  • Create technical designs from requirements by holding collaborative discussions with engineers and validating recommendations as needed
  • Ensure our product holds a high level of quality, with adequate tests and debug and solve production issues
  • Hold technical conversations with strong communication skills while challenging others with a positive growth mindset 
  • Solve for enterprise readiness by solving for scalability, security, and performance by identifying bottlenecks
  • Design such that the application is functional on mobile devices

YOU HAVE

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in a start-up environment
  • You’re experienced in React, React Query, Typescript, and building UI components
  • You’re proficient in NodeJS, MongoDB, and AWS
  • You thrive in a fast-paced and, at times, ambiguous environment
  • Built quality tests using Jest or a similar framework

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience in working with UI tools such as Storybook, Playwright, Cypress, Webpack, WebSDK, and NPM
