Title | Founding Design Engineer

Role summary | As a founding design engineer you will work in tandem with our software engineers, computational biologist and founders to build design across front-end, UX/UI, stakeholder collateral, website and marketing materials. You get the unique opportunity to build meaningful ownership in bringing a complex product (biology and AI) from 0 to 1 and distilling this into simple and intuitive design.

What you’ll do | We’re a small, interdisciplinary team - and expect every member of the founding team to interact and iterate with users to develop a robust product that is able to scale across use cases. There are no specialists and we expect every member of the team to pick up different languages and responsibilities as we grow.You do not need to have a background in biology - but you should be insatiably curious and excited at the prospect of learning how to visualize new insights in biological data - which unlike most data, is highly dimensional and complex.We are looking for a design engineer with a strong background in front end engineering and visual design experience who is curious to pick up new languages (react, html, css, javascript, coding art or biological sequence data).

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with founders to rapidly iterate and transform brand concepts into customer-facing graphics and collateral.

• Work closely with engineers to prototype, test, and refine product designs in Figma, ensuring they are functional and aesthetically aligned.

• Partner with our computational biology team to transform their R&D into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that simplify complex workflows. You’ll work on visualizing insights in a space where the data is much higher dimensionality compared to typical data sets.

• Design and code front-end elements using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React with an eye for aesthetics.

• Iterate with users and internal teams to refine designs based on feedback and usability testing.

• Develop and maintain a consistent design system across all products and materials, defining the visual language of biological intelligence.
