Regulatory Manager

As the Regulatory Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for Astranis’s orbital slot, spectrum, and satellite licensing obligations. You will work closely with a wide array of teams throughout the company, and will have direct interaction with senior business leaders. Astranis is rapidly scaling its satellite production activities, so this role will have significant growth potential. Come help get the next 4 billion people online!


  • Drive the licensing of geostationary communications satellites from pre-launch to end-of-life
  • Coordinate with relevant internal stakeholders to develop long term orbital slot procurement and management plans, and execute on those plans
  • Interface with the ITU and other filers to manage the orbital slot coordination process
  • Manage relevant launch and operation licensing obligations for Astranis’s satellites, including regularly engaging with agencies such as the FCC, the UK Ofcom, and the UK CAA
  • Manage the procurement of relevant landing rights for all of Astranis’s satellites
  • Develop and advocate for spectrum policies that will further Astranis’s business interests
  • Represent Astranis in relevant industry working groups, federal rule makings, and international conferences


  • Direct experience working with relevant national and international regulators to procure the use of orbital slots; familiarity with the BIU satellites and replacement authorizations
  • Significant understanding of the ITU, including working knowledge of Coordination Requests, the Radio Regulations, FSS, and both planned and non-planned bands
  • Significant understanding of, and demonstrated ability working with, both US and UK space object licensing requirements
  • Significant understanding of, and demonstrated ability working with, national regulators to secure satellite landing rights
  • Excellent communication skills with legal and non-legal audiences
  • High adaptability; ability to gain expertise in multiple regulatory areas
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Willingness to work out of our San Francisco headquarters — this is not a remote position


  • Prior experience working for a relevant satellite industry regulator
