What We Need:
We are looking for an Industrial Designer 1 to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team.

As an Industrial Designer, you will assist in facilitating and overseeing product concept development and design, focusing on optimizing function, value, and appearance for users and manufacturers. This role generates and evaluates concepts based on design research, competitive analysis, aesthetics, design-function relationships, ergonomics, and materials. The designer presents design recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders and supports coordination with engineering to implement the design concept.

What You Will Do:
• Assist in developing multiple design concepts that respond to customer and/or market needs.
• Support idea/concept generation through sketching, hand rendering, CAD modeling, 3-D modeling, and computer renderings.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to help ensure final product delivery aligns with the Design/Project Brief.
• Assist in determining and maintaining the overall aesthetics to ensure design integrity.
• Contribute to the influencing of materials and production processes, working with engineering and operations to understand the process.
• Present design proposals to the project team, discussing modifications, production methods, and materials, and communicates design intent through visual deliverables.
• Support overseeing design decisions from inception to completion of the project.
• Stay informed about current and forecasted design trends through attending shows, following design blogs, seminars, and webinars, and apply them to concept development.
• Help ensure a design language that is consistent with existing and projected Allsteel projects.
• Coordinate and interact with outside consulting designers under guidance to ensure design objectives align with project objectives and company directives.
• Participate in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.

What You Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design or related field required.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience required; 2 years’ relevant experience preferred.
