The Design Center manages the development and design of a variety of print and web-based marketing, recruiting, fundraising and marketing materials, from conceptualization to delivery. The design staff has extensive experience in graphic design and strives to achieve a consistent visual identify for Ringling College. The Design Center Team works directly with on-campus and external clients to identify project objectives and provide creative design solutions to fulfill those objectives.
The Senior Designer is responsible for developing strategic concepts and executing design solutions for digital and print. Projects require collaboration with clients, designers, copywriters, motion designers, and developers. Design Center projects may include invitation design and event branding, design for conferences, environmental graphics, and marketing collateral. The Senior Designer is responsible for art directing photographers, Illustrators, and videographers/filmmakers. The Senior Designer will have the ability to consider cognitive, cultural, physical, and social factors in researching and executing designs for the target audience. Must have ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Position requires self-discipline to start projects on own initiative, budget time, and meet deadlines.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients: analyzing the client’s business objectives in order to develop strategic concepts; focus on relationship building to grow into a trusted advisor role; present ideas and concepts to client and/or creative director. The incumbent must prioritize to adhere to productions schedules, perform necessary quality checks to ensure quality outcome of projects, track costs associated with jobs and generate invoices, maintain proficiency in industry software as well as maintain and adhere to current brand and style guidelines for the College.
The Senior Designer will contribute to the support of the daily operations of the Design Center, which includes creating gallery/award spaces, preparing design competition submittals, file keeping archiving and organization. The Senior Designer works in a team environment with professional and/or students in a wide range of media, and works closely with Traffic/Production on design process/production scheduling of jobs. This individual will supervise and manage student workers and will be responsible for critiquing student assistant projects to ensure a high level of design solutions.
The Senior Designer must possess strong organizational and project management skills, excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills. Must have excellent typography skills, creativity and problem-solving skills, eye for details, and the ability to demonstrate a high degree of creativity and skills in dealing with a variety of personality types. They must be proficient in graphic design, as well as be able to work autonomously.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in graphic design or related field.
• Three years of experience, and/or training which includes:
o Experience and understanding of digital media solutions and prototyping for web, mobile and email.
o Proficient with Creative Cloud on a Macintosh Platform including, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, and Bridge.
o Broad range of experience in print and digital design.
o Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Six years of experience, and/or training in graphic design or related field.
