MRI Technologies has partnered with NASA since 1988 to deliver software solutions that meet the complex operational environment of space flight. MRI, a woman-owned technologies and engineering services company, has a need for an experienced System Reliability Engineer.

Project information:

The NASA Scientific and Technical Information (STI) Program is a critical component in the worldwide activity of scientific and technical aerospace research and development. The NASA STI Program acquires, processes, archives, announces, and disseminates NASA STI and acquires worldwide STI of critical importance to NASA and the Nation.

Collected from U.S. and international sources, STI is organized according to content prior to being added to the NASA STI Repository (NTRS). The STI Repository is a world-class collection of STI that includes over 4.3 million metadata records and over half a million full-text documents.

Hit the ground running:

  • Experience with Kubernetes in production
  • Proficiency with Terraform (or equivalent) for infrastructure automation tooling
  • Extensive Linux experience (familiarity with Windows also preferred, but not required)
  • Expert in at least one programming language (Go is preferred)
  • Solution-oriented mindset, accepts feedback
  • Effectively communicates with team members
  • Self-motivated and self-managing, with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to use GitLab (preferably very proficient)
  • Experience architecting and building cloud-native applications
  • Demonstrable success transforming and migrating legacy application stacks to a cloud-native architecture
  • Demonstrable success and confidence in owning the full project lifecycle
  • Good instincts for identifying opportunities for abstraction
  • Balances individual project development tasks at hand with overall platform and company goals

Nice to have:

  • Demonstrable success adopting Service Mesh in production (preferred, but not required)

Responsibilities:

  • Developing Incubator Projects
  • Supporting SREs in the development and maintenance of Platform Services
  • Working with the CTO to shepherd projects through the Graduation Process
  • Developing best practices for cloud-native application development and promoting them within the organization
  • Writing quality code, providing quality and engaged code reviews for peers
  • Identifying opportunities to abstract Prospective Project requirements and develop Enterprise-grade, multi-tenant Platform Services
