Ambassador Labs (formerly Datawire), the cloud native developer experience leader, enables developers to code, ship, and run applications faster and easier than ever. Maker of top Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) open source projects, including Emissary-ingress and Telepresence, Ambassador Labs delivers a developer control plane for Kubernetes that integrates the development, deployment, and production infrastructure for developers and organizations worldwide including Microsoft, PTC, NVidia, and Ticketmaster. Ambassador Labs is backed by top investors including Insight Partners, Matrix Partners, Trinity Ventures, and Four Rivers Group.

The way we build software is changing dramatically — it is faster, architecturally different (distributed systems, microservices, containers), and straddles a hybrid cloud world.
Both pure technology companies and traditional enterprises that are transforming to being digital-first are making the switch from monolithic to microservice architectures and using open source technologies like Kubernetes as their cloud native operating system.

An enormous, rapidly growing market opportunity has arisen for innovative start- ups to redefine key parts of the Kubernetes ecosystem. Ambassador Labs is building the DevOps stack for Kubernetes and is the fastest growing infrastructure software provider on top of Kubernetes.

About the Job
We are looking to hire a Head of Digital Marketing to build and run Ambassador Labs’ digital marketing strategy and systems. You’ll create insights that will be used to drive core go-to-market decisions for the company -- identifying investment opportunities for growth, helping us understand the business impact of our product-led funnel, and defining metrics to guide our actions as we grow our audience of developers. Reporting to the CMO, you will bring an affinity for synthesizing and visualizing data, marketing domain experience, and communication skills to help ensure we’re operating as a best-in-class growth organization.

We’re a small but quickly growing startup; you'll wear numerous hats and take on a leadership and ownership role for many elements of our digital marketing strategy.

Some examples of marketing initiatives you will own include:

    • Build and operate a digital marketing funnel to acquire and activate net new users, retain and convert successful users and understand, try, and adopt our products.
    • Oversee all digital marketing channels (e.g. website, landing pages, email marketing, SEM, SEO, display advertising, social media, digital sponsorships, etc.) using web analytics, onsite testing tools, etc.
    • Measure ROI, establish and track KPIs, and manage digital marketing budget.
    • Monitor performance and share learnings: You'll deeply understand and quickly react to changes in CPA, CAC payback, ROI, and other marketing efficiency metrics. You'll share key learnings around the effectiveness of our campaigns and programs across the organization.
    • Collaborate across other marketing, sales and product teams to identify new user and customer segments and growth opportunities

About You
You have experience both developing and executing digital campaigns across organic SEO, SEM and other acquisition channels. You have a rigorous framework for testing and scaling campaigns. If you like to break the rules and think outside the box, Ambassador Labs welcomes new ways of working. You pride yourself on exercising analytical rigor across the entire funnel. Cohort analysis comes second nature to you and you know how to measure and optimize performance across the entire user’s journey. Your empathy with technical audiences guides your understanding of where users like developers and engineers live and what will resonate with them. You work well in highly collaborative environments that value new ways of working and failing fast while iterating quickly.

We strongly believe that Ambassador Labs’ success is dependent on hiring a diverse team. Diversity means a broader spectrum of opinions, ways of working and approaches to solving problems; we feel it is critical to helping drive the creativity, innovation and sound decision-making our customers love us for!

Ambassador Labs is a remote-friendly company with “pods” in Boston, Portland and Montreal. Our pods are a way of bridging the gap between being 100% remote and working in an office. Eventually, when it is safe to do so, we will have physical offices in each of these locations for team members to go to on a part-time basis to fuel their creativity through brainstorming and watercooler conversations. This is our way of creating the best of both worlds. For now, everyone is 100% remote. It is worth noting that about 50% of team members are based outside of these pods in cities all over the world so if you would like to be 100% remote, the option is available.

How to Apply
We are looking forward to hearing from you. We move quickly and decisively. We don’t need to talk to 20 other candidates to make a decision, so if the fit feels right on both sides, you can be part of the team as soon as next week! The first step is speaking to our People Person, followed by leadership, and then a few of your future colleagues. Interviews are typically 30 - 45 minutes, all remote. We’ll talk through your background and experience, your approach to work, and how you’ll make a difference as a member of our team: we want to hear about your real-life experiences and successes.

This is a demanding application process and a significant career move that’s well worth considering. We appreciate you giving us that consideration, and we promise to give you our full attention in return. Talk to you soon!
