Job description

John McNeil Studio is looking for a Sr. Social Strategist to join our team. We are a creative marketing company made up of a collection of makers with diverse skill sets: strategists, writers, designers, filmmakers, technologists, and photographers who help brands reinvent themselves. We are founded in aesthetics but also in utility and we make things that make brands thrive.

About the role:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned strategist and storyteller with experience bringing to life creative concepts across traditional and emerging social media platforms. This person knows how each platform works, and can keep pace with their constant changes and updates. They can quickly craft a point-of-view on a platform’s new features or on broader trends affecting our clients’ business. This applicant should be able to oversee the direction of social media projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and exceeding client expectations. The right candidate has the opportunity to expand the team and its impact across multiple clients.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Work directly with clients and cross-functional teams to lead strategic planning and develop project briefs.
-Ideate, pitch and execute unique, engaging social media activations to develop innovative custom content that breaks through.
-Leverage social media management systems like Sprout Social to manage accounts, perform social listening and provide reporting.
-Craft robust strategic POVs for clients that solve business challenges through powerful communications.
-Work closely with creative teams to provide strategic insight and analysis at all stages of a project.
-Develop communications plans for clients and innovative strategies that meet the clients’ marketing needs.
-Collaborate with the different studio disciplines, from creative to web development to project management, to ensure that great work continues to be produced.


-5+ years of agency experience.
-Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
-Proficiency using iWork, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office, our clients use a range of programs and you’ll need to be familiar with all of the presentation tools.
-Deep understanding of a wide range of industries, markets, brands, current trends and social movements.
-A strong grasp of marketing principles and the ability to leverage persona and customer research to create insights.
-Experience with media planning and knowledge of best practices.
-Self-starter with strong work ethic: willing to collaborate with colleagues and look for ways to solve challenges.
-Great organizational and time management skills.
-Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
