Armstrong Robotics is a startup founded by previously successful entrepreneurs that is developing a new class of consumer robot. We are a seed-stage company that has developed a technical prototype over the last two years. We are seeking software engineers to form our motion planning team.

What you’ll do

  • Develop motion planning and control algorithms for mobile robots and arms
  • Evaluate recent robotics research advances, develop proofs of concept for relevant techniques, and implement production-ready versions of successful ideas
  • Collaborate with other teams, including computer vision and mechanical engineering, to find effective solutions
  • Operate and test robots to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in product brainstorms and evaluate the technical complexity of possible features

What we’re looking for

  • Degree in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering or similar field
  • 2+ years of professional software development or graduate degree
  • Experience in some or all of the following:
    • Sampling-based motion planning algorithms like RRT
    • Trajectory optimization
    • Robot dynamics and kinematics
    • Nonlinear programming and convex optimization
    • Optimal control algorithms
    • Reinforcement learning
  • A passion for robotics
