ABOUT US: Grand Leisure is an industry-leading supplier of outdoor patio furniture, accessories, and solar lighting in the North American mass retail market. With U.S. headquarters located in Madison, Wisconsin, we are a small team of sales, design, and marketing aficionados, looking to add another ambitious design enthusiast to our team. Producing primarily steel, aluminum, and resin wicker outdoor furniture and accessories, we produce for most of the mass market and home improvement retailers in the United States and Canada.
ABOUT YOU: We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic entry level Junior Furniture Designer, someone who is not only highly creative, well organized, and eager to learn, but is also an avid follower of home design trends. You don't need to have any experience in the industry, but you should have some background in Industrial Design and better yet, furniture design and/or interior design. You are a person who takes great pride in paying very close attention to the details and always looks for ways to grow both personally and professionally.
JOB DESCRIPTION: You will closely follow the indoor and outdoor furniture markets and report on new and evolving trends as it relates to color, fabric, design aesthetics, and materials. You will create presentations for retailers, edit photography, layout presentation boards, and create company brochures. You will assist in new material development and selections for samples, recommend finishes, materials, and textural details to create trend sensitive collections of outdoor furniture and accessories. You will learn the art of patio furniture design and assist the Senior Design staff in the development of hundreds of new designs every year, and you will also act as Junior account design manager for multiple retail accounts. When the time comes, (post-pandemic of course), you will have the opportunity to travel to domestic trade shows, as well as to China to work directly with an industry-leading design, R&D, and sales staff.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS: The successful candidate is highly creative and self-motivated, first and foremost. You should have an education or background in textiles, furniture design, or interior design, and be passionate about always trying to create something new. 3D modeling especially with Solidworks is highly preferred, and graphic design skills are a major plus, especially experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design. The successful candidate must also possess the ability to communicate their direction clearly and handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
LOCATION: Ideally you already live in Madison, but if not, you are willing to relocate here (we're convinced a Zoom meeting will never replace old school face-to-face brainstorming sessions!)
If this sounds like it could be a great fit for you, we look forward to hearing from you. Best way to reach out is to send us your info to the email address posted below.
