The Team You’ll Work With

The Web Presence team at Carta is a creative group of interactive, visual designers, design technologists and engineers - and we’re just getting started! We are building a design system for carta.com that brings equity and ownership to life. We nurture a creative team environment that promotes taking risks and being bold. We measure success not by pages or features shipped, but rather by the impact we drive for the business.

The Problems You’ll Solve

Carta has grown quickly and the visual design for our web presence hasn’t changed since 2017 leading to a stale, inconsistent experience. We are looking for a Visual Designer to help own and drive visual consistency and strategy at Carta. This designer will work closely with other designers, design technologists and other engineers to establish rules for brand identity, visual design and improve the Carta customer experience by making it feel more personable and approachable. You will be a key contributor for Carta’s web presence team and help lead the team to grow our best-in-class visual design system, define Carta’s external brand, and drive innovation by incubating new visual assets.

The Impact You’ll Have

• Build a world-class visual design practice at Carta
• Understand the long-term strategic value of the Carta platform
• Form partnerships with key ecosystem stakeholders
• Build and maintain a visual library and guidelines containing and defining all of Carta’s visual assets 
• Push the limits of what the Carta brand encompasses - run experiments and prototypes of new versions of the app (web and mobile) and site
• Tie together all Carta product web page experiences (CartaX, LLC, Carta for Investors, etc.) under one Carta identity
• Build web pages using our design components from our design system called Blueprint
• Collaborate with our graphic designers to bring assets to life 

About You

• 5+ years of design experience at a relevant tech company
• A passion for storytelling, demonstrable through a portfolio of visual design work and design systems
• A great understanding of the formal elements of design, not just limited to web and including typography, layout, balance and proportion
• Strong familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite
• Ability to rapidly prototype and bring ideas to life (using tool like Figma) 
• Strong communication skills to coordinate cross-team efforts and enjoy solving problems that are crucial to the business, impacting the whole organization
• Self motivated and seeks to solve problems independently
