We are looking for a talented Product Designer to join the New Product Development (NPD) team at MSA! This position reports to an NPD Engineering Manager. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to design and develop innovative and exciting safety equipment in collaboration with a product development team. This will be accomplished by applying MSA’s established New Product Development process.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other teammates to develop and prototype
new designs of components, assemblies and systems
- Use Solidworks to prepare models and drawings of parts and assemblies
- Utilize engineering input, customer feedback and specifications, and product test data to
drive design direction
- Incorporate appropriate dimensional tolerances as determined by manufacturing requirements and material selection
- Incorporate cost considerations, manufacturability, and user experience into design
development
- Build physical models and perform testing to support verification and validation
- Document and communicate work performed for internal or external stakeholders
- Proactively recognize discrepancies, errors and roadblocks and propose solutions or design
alternatives
- Consistently meet work deadlines while producing high quality work
- Facilitate timely new engineering documentation and change requests in accordance with
documentation control processes

Qualifications
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Personal initiative; the ability to drive projects and tasks through to completion
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment
- Demonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks in solid modeling, surface modeling, assembly
creation, and detail drawings
- Ability to multitask and efficiently manage time in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to confirm quality of work
- Solid written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
- A growth mindset; a desire to learn and develop skills
- Creativity in problem solving and a willingness to innovate

Preferred:
- Experience with plastic injection mold part design
- Experience with machined component design
- Demonstrated experience with SAP enterprise management software and Atlassian tools
- Hands-on experience and/or formal education with personal protective equipment
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME engineering
drawing standards
- Experience in working with regulatory requirements and design standards

Education and experience required:
- Associates degree or related two-year technical school degree in Drafting or Computer
Aided Design or equivalent

Level I: 1 year related experience in 3D modeling
Level II: Minimum 3 years related experience in 3D modeling
Senior Designer: Minimum 5 years related experience in complex 3D modeling

Preferred:
Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) or Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) certification
