The Opportunity -- Head of Design

We’re looking for an individual who will lead a team of talented designers to find and transform the intersection between customer jobs and business goals into amazing experiences. Our work is never finished, and that applies to developing ourselves and our skills. Join us and build products people trust and love. 

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Articulate the vision and design strategy for all things design at SigFig, including: Managed investments and financial advice for consumers, advisor tools, marketing, and brand design, vision typing for business development, and trading tools. 
• Inspire, mentor, and guide designers as they progress in their careers. 
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, investment managers, business development, and partner managers.
• Facilitate design workshops or sprints to generate new ideas and align internal and external stakeholders.
• Synthesize and share user research insights with the wider team
• Present design initiatives and vision to internal and external leaders. 
• Create effective feedback structures to ensure we are designing and building the best products possible.

• Team building experience: You have recruited successful designers in the past; you understand how to create safe environments for feedback and you inspire teams through your direction and vision. 
• Operational savvy: You create structures so that your team the teams you collaborate with can run independently and successfully.
• Communication skills: You are a clear communicator and aren’t afraid to have a point of view. You can navigate the intricacies of multi-disciplinary teams and can resolve conflicts if they arise.
• Understanding that product design is more than just pixels: Product design has an enormous impact because it touches people through a business’s core strategy. Embracing team objectives and delivering excellent, relevant work drives and motivates you. 
• Experience with B2B2C/Enterprise product development: You understand the level of robustness that an enterprise product requires. 
• Strong design platform fundamentals: You understand the benefits and pitfalls of managing a core design system that multiple partners inherit from. 
• Experience managing clients: You are adept at managing feedback from your immediate team members and potential partners.
• Self-initiative: You must be comfortable working in ambiguity and helping others navigate fuzzy worlds. You are flexible and open-minded.
• Interest in finance or personal finance: You are motivated by the idea of helping Americans achieve better financial outcomes. 

Ideal SigFigian for this Role

• 10+ years of experience in product design with 3+ years managing a team
• Portfolio showcasing your best work or representative work of your past directs  
• Familiarity with industry-standard apps and tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Framer, Invison, and Usertesting.com\
