Duties: Responsible for building, monitoring, and maintaining Oracle engineered Exadata database machine and the databases hosted on servers. Review various performance related reports (exachk, awr, and addm) and provide best practices and performance improvement solutions. Troubleshoot both database and Exadata machine specific configuration/OS level production issues. Responsible for creating, patching, upgrading, and migrating databases. Gather hardware, system, and operating system requirements from Application Development (AD) teams for database deployments. Responsible for backup, restore and recover databases based on the requirements. Perform Exadata Image upgrades and patching twice a year in compliance with firm security policies. Coordinate with Oracle and replace faulty hardware devices and new Exadata machine initial configurations. Create and troubleshoot DR/standby database issues. Coordinate with AD teams to gather system requirements to create, migrate, and upgrade databases. Implement replication using technologies, such as Goldengate, between databases in uni-directional or bi-directional replication solutions. Troublehshoot Exadata database peformance tuning related, such as smart scan, storage index, and bloom filtering. Design large scale databases and help AD teams to tune SQL queries to utilize Exadata specific features, such as smartscan, storage indexes, and smart cache, to cacahe frequently accesed objects. Automate Exadata database related tasks, such as patching, upgrading, and capacity planning using Bash, Python and Perl scripting.


Minimum education required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or related field.

Minimum experience required: 2 years of experience in Exadata database machine and Oracle database administration, or related experience.

Skills Required: Must have experience designing and creating new databases as per various Application Development (AD) team requirements. Must have experience creating, upgrading, cloning, applying patches and migration of databases. Must have experience with backup, restore and recover databases and troubleshooting. Must have experience documenting technical specific and project related activities. Must have experience generating and creating various performance and configuration related reports, including exachk, AWR, and ADDM reports, and providing solutions to improve performance of the database systems. Must have experience implementing and troubleshooting replication between databases using Goldengate solution. Must have experience building and troubleshooting DR solutions using Oracle standby databases/Goldengate replication solution. Must have experience troubleshooting and maintaining Exadata tasks related to cell node, DB node and IB switches. Must have experience with database logical modeling and physical modeling for OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) and OLTP (Online Transactional Processing) systems. Must have experience automating database system related tasks, including patching, installations and upgrades using Bash, Python, and Perl scripting. Must have experience creating, implementing, and monitoring using OEM and scripting using Bash, Python and Perl.
