Are you ready to build a new DevOps community from the ground up? Would you like to be part of a team that designs technologies that change the way applications are built and deployed? Are you an ambitious Developer Advocate who loves creating momentum and educating fast-growing communities? Do you have the vision to define what your community needs to be engaged and active? Kasten, a Veeam company and a platinum CNCF member, is looking for a Community Manager to drive adoption of Kasten’s open-source projects and community-oriented products.

As Kasten’s Head of Developer Relations, you understand our users’ needs. You are passionate about their success. You will help developers drive cloud-native adoption and modernize application services. Customers will come to you to be advised on leveraging container and cloud-native technologies as you demonstrate your knowledge and expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, Google Cloud, AWS, Azure...

You will own community management and be the liaison between product management, engineering, marketing and sales. The perfect candidate loves communicating about cutting-edge technologies and helping people realize what new technologies can do for them. You will be in charge of community growth, member participation and contribution, and the level of engagement in the community and with Kasten.


  • Build the number one DevOps community; create and execute the best plan for Kasten community growth and engagement.
  • Connect with technical users and be the primary advocate for Kasten technology.
  • Kick-start the adoption and use of the Kasten open-source projects and the Kasten Community Edition.
  • Educate community members through customer use cases and best practices.
  • Set up, manage and monitor user communication channels.
  • Answer community member questions, and stimulate activity through relationship management.
  • Organize community events that showcase the strength of the Kasten product and community.
  • Build partnerships with user group leaders, partners, sponsors, speakers, evangelists, and influencers whom you identify and develop in the community.
  • Plan and create content for the community marketing channels: the Kasten community newsletter, Kasten blog, social channels, connected user group websites.
  • Ensure our thought leadership is heard and we are providing valuable content to the community.
  • Track growth, engagement, ROI, user insight, and business opportunities.
  • Identify Kasten advocates and bring community members into the larger customer journey.
  • Establish community moderation best practices and guidelines; review and moderate all user-generated content to moderation guidelines.
  • Be the voice of the community and provide regular insights gained via consistent, actionable reporting back to the business.
  • Keep a curious eye for trending needs, and work to ensure product roadmap alignment.

Desired Skills And Experience

A strong candidate would be an extroverted person with a solid technical background and a good feeling for marketing.

  • You live and breathe DevOps and Kubernetes.
  • You have been an established community member in the cloud-native ecosystem and have experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, etc.
  • Additional experience valued in backup, security and data management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of software development based on Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Development (CD).
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills: ability to communicate in both formal and informal situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with engineering teams to learn and demo new products and features.
  • User engagement and conflict resolution experience.
  • Passionate and energetic personality, combined with ability to work as an individual contributor.
  • Ability to balance technology, marketing, and engineering scenarios.
  • Strong work ethic, proven record of rejecting setbacks, and enthusiastic presence to reach ambitious goals.
  • Digital native, comfortable with online networking and communicating on a variety of platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience building developer communities, managing forums, blogging or using social media to stimulate developer engagement.
