Job description

Skidmore Studio is looking for an experienced full-time Senior Designer to join our (currently remote) team.

As Senior Designer, you will produce thoughtful and strategically sound creative that is consistently unique, on-brand, and innovative. You’ll be key in transforming client goals into effective, beautiful designs. And if a project faces hurdles, you’ll use your experience, imagination, and ingenuity to overcome these challenges and still produce high-quality designs.

A Senior Designer will take the lead on many projects while working closely with other designers, copywriters, strategists, and with the direction of the Design Director and Creative Directors. We are looking for a Senior Designer who can execute expertly in all the Studio’s core design capabilities but excels in digital design.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a designer at an agency, studio, or similar environment
  • Excels in digital design (website, UI/UX, email design, digital marketing, etc.) and has strong conceptual and technical skills in other design disciplines including brand and identity, design systems, CPG packaging, and campaigns
  • Degree in graphic design or experiential equivalent
  • Fluent in current design industry hardware and software tools – for example, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Invision, Animate, etc.


Primary tasks

  • Be the design lead on client projects, collaborating directly with Creative Directors, Strategists, and/or Copywriters.
  • Research clients, audiences, and project details that will inform your work.
  • Employ a personal brainstorming process and be able to clearly communicate your brainstorm output with teammates.
  • Conceptualize and articulate a system-wide approach to your design work, showing how it connects with or reinforces the brand or marketing strategy.
  • Concept designs that subtly and significantly vary from each other.
  • Use design to communicate key messages; elevate and add value to content.
  • Clearly articulate the rationale and strategy behind your design choices in both internal and client-facing reviews
  • Actively participate in and often lead internal design reviews with insightful contributions. Capture and interpret feedback from teammates and clients.
  • Accurately estimate the time you need to complete your work and meet all deadlines, both internal and external.
  • Prepare designs with the proper specs for the required output.
