Cloud Security Engineer

Symbridge is seeking a strong Cloud (GCP or AWS) Security Engineer to help drive the implementation and continuous improvement of our security posture. The Cloud Security Engineer will report to the CISO and interact with stakeholders across all technology teams including Development, Quality Assurance, and IT Operations. You will be responsible to help monitor, build, and maintain our security infrastructure through the use of bleeding edge security tooling and process solutions. You will help to ensure data security and integrity across all cloud platforms.

  • What you will do:

    What you will do:
    • Identify, resolve, and mitigate vulnerabilities on AWS and GCP cloud systems and platforms, from;
      • Secure configuration and system hardening
      • Vulnerability scanning and assessments
      • Operational and runtime practices and procedures
      • Log and event analysis and alerting
    • Perform penetration testing against infrastructure, platform, and applications
    • Manage firewalls, load balancers, and web application firewalls (WAF)
    • Perform risk assessments for new applications integrating with core services
    • Assist in the creation of cybersecurity standards and implementing security best practices across all technology platforms, following industry standard frameworks
    • Identify and evaluate risks in the cloud infrastructure and work with stakeholders to mitigate
    • Troubleshoot security and network issues
    • Participate in investigations, triage, and remediation for security events and incidents
    • Develop documentation for procedures, tooling, and events
    • Maintain keen awareness of the cloud infrastructure security landscape and emerging threat vectors
    • Deploy and administer endpoint security solutions
    • Improve existing functionality, its design, and methodologies
    • Work closely with other core members on the team
    • Work with open-source technologies as needed
    • Work with CI and CD tools, and source control such as GIT and GitLab

    • At least 5 years of systems security engineering experience within either the AWS or GCP ecosystems
    • Experience writing Ansible and/or Chef scripts to automate deployments
    • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, TerraGrunt, and/or Ansible
    • Hands-on experience managing and maintaining WAF’s, firewalls and load balancers
    • Ability to work without supervision, with proven ability to prioritize
    • Experience with open-source software and cloud services
    • Experience working with either Ansible, Puppet or Chef for automation and configuration management
    • Strong communication skills and ability to evangelize best practices for security across all teams and management
    • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures, and administration of AWS, and GCP
    • The ability to take ownership and see initiatives through
    • Exceptional communication skills
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science highly preferred
