Job Description
This position is the center-point of people, plants and planet. We are looking for someone who has an eye for design, a love of material, an appreciation of the scientific and the mindset of sustainability. As the Design Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of product development duties including research and prototyping new products and materials. You will collaborate with the design and production teams on various design projects, using in-depth knowledge of the latest design trends across industries furniture, fashion, architecture, automotive and consumer goods. The right candidate has a voice of their own and makes it their mission to elevate form, feel & function.

Responsibilities:
-Design, prototype, analyze, and launch a variety of exciting new products.
-Collaborate with industrial design and cross functional engineering teams as well as external vendors and partners.
-Setting the vision for the development and coordination of interior and exterior color and materials design for all farm models.
-Evaluate materials, texture, finishes.
-Work with suppliers to identify material properties to meet operational requirements.
-Work with suppliers to match materials and cost with sustainable sourcing and manufacturing.
-Use design software to develop models and drawings of new products.
-Maintain existing engineering records and designs.
-Assess all engineering prototypes to determine issues or risks.
-Estimate cost limits and budgets for new designs.
-Supervise the manufacturing process of all designs.
-Coordinate with other engineers, leadership and the creative department.

Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering, Engineering, Product Design or relevant field.
-Technical background in product design, architecture, tolerance analysis, structural analysis, or top-down CAD design.
-Wide knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing methods including prototyping, process development, and mass production.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Proficient with Solidworks CAD software.
-Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively.
-Design Research Experience.

Senior candidates will have the following:
-Experience interfacing with vendors and developing qualified supply chains.
-Experience with performing tolerance studies on mechanical equipment and assemblies.
-Experience with engineering change control processes and managing dynamic product -designs in the transition to validated manufacturing.
-Familiarity with creation and execution of test plans.
-Ability to make strategic decisions based on market and competitor analysis.
