Job description

The Role:

The furniture design team is responsible for all new furniture product design as well as improvement of existing products. We are looking for someone with a high degree of technical skills in product design and development. It will be your job to work with our team to develop new products from sketches to final production, and to assist in the customization of existing designs in collaboration with the sales team. These efforts will involve concept development, design documentation, engineering, rapid prototyping, vendor communication, CMF and overall product experience. You will work closely with our internal design group and report directly to the head of the furniture design department.

Responsibilities:

- Develop new products from concept to final production
- Work closely with others designers, engineers, sourcing, machine operators and sales in a truly collaborative on-demand manufacturing environment
- Manage assigned project responsibilities and tight deadlines
- Develop full Solidworks assemblies with detailed manufacturing drawings
- Controlling quality. Roll & Hill makes high-end, decorative furniture and lighting. Quality is very important from development to delivery

Requirements:

- Industrial design, product design, furniture design or related degree
- 1-3 years experience in product design/development. Experience in furniture design or woodworking will be given a preference
- Comfort and eagerness to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
- True passion for object design and the design process
- Advanced Solidworks experience. Rhino and rendering experience is a plus
- Critical thinking, the ability to foresee problems and suggest multiple solutions
- Mechanical Aptitude. Strong mechanical aptitude with an eye for the details
- Communication. Great communication skills are a must, this is a truly collaborative team environment with a design office located directly next to the manufacturing floor
- Proficiency in Adobe CS applications and ability to create efficient, compelling design presentations.
