The University of Florida’s School of Art + Art History (SA+AH) seeks a full-time lecturer in graphic design to contribute to the growth of our vibrant program. We seek a forward-looking educator with strong intellectual, communication, organizational, and leadership skills to contribute to and advance the program through teaching and service. This faculty position will provide leadership to our certificate in graphic design degree and our design foundation level, as well as contribute to our community-based professional and social practice course. The ideal candidate will have experience with user experience and interaction design, information design, and/or motion design as well as demonstrate an understanding of contemporary design issues, methods, and technologies, and engage questions of culture and community.

Responsibilities: Teach four courses in the Fall and Spring semesters (or their equivalent) and two courses in the summer at the undergraduate level. Actively engage in service to the Graphic Design Program, School, College, and University. Participate in curriculum and program development and outreach.

Minimum Requirements:
Possess a terminal degree (MFA, MDes, MGD, PhD) in graphic design or closely related field.
Have a minimum of one academic year experience in teaching or instructional experience in design.
Be conversant with contemporary design issues, conceptual approach to design, design thinking, and/or design research.
Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of teaching or professional practice in UI/UX, data visualization, and/or motion design.
Demonstrated teaching and/or professional practice oriented toward Design Futures.
Strong evidence of successful, student-oriented teaching in design at the undergraduate level.
Evidence with developing productive teaching connections and/or partnerships for social practice within local and university communities.
Demonstrated ability in curriculum and program development.
Maintain an active engagement with design research and/or creative practice.
