What We Do At the Esri R&D Center-Zurich, we develop innovative urban design and 3D software such as CityEngine, ArcGIS Urban, and Unreal Engine AR/VR experiences. We are looking for creative, smart engineers to help us build the next generation of urban planning tools. As a software engineer at Esri you will solve challenges that make a difference in the world.

A few key challenges where we would appreciate your help

  • Designing, maintaining, and improving our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) setup
  • Supporting our 4 development teams in building their CI/CD/CT pipelines and in enhancing their DevOps methodologies
  • Leading the migration of existing servers and services to a public cloud infrastructure
  • Helping our operations and sysadmin teams with the administration of server, network, and virtual machines


What You Bring to the Table Ideally you have

  • Prior work experience (3+ years) as a systems engineer
  • Outstanding skills in systems automation and configuration management with chef, puppet, or ansible
  • Excellent skills in the design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of ci/cd/ct pipelines using jenkins, selenium, etc.
  • Superb skills in administering Linux systems and configuring services (http, ftp, git, subversion, etc.)
  • Solid experience with coding in ruby, groovy, shell scripting (bash, powershell) and similar
  • Good experience with virtualization (vmware) and containerization
  • Some knowledge of one cloud platform (aws, azure, etc.)

  • Expertise in administering Windows systems
  • Programming skills in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C++, and/or Java
  • Expertise in planning, designing, and implementing custom in-house tools
  • Previous work experience as a member of a Scrum team
  • You geek out over the latest advancements in computer graphics. VR/AR, or AAA games
