Instructional Faculty Position – Bachelor of Applied Science in Web Design and Development Clark State Community College Springfield, Ohio

Position Summary A full-time twelve-month Instructional faculty position is available in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Web Design and Development program beginning as early as March to develop necessary course curriculum for the following academic year.

The successful candidate will use a learner-centered approach to teaching that incorporates active learning strategies and technology to enhance student learning. Primary duties include classroom teaching (lecture and lab), curriculum and course development, student advising, assessment of student learning, and participation in college wide initiatives. This position also includes program coordination that consists of student web server management, program promotion, student recruitment, program review, scheduling of classes and adjunct faculty recruitment.

Position Requirements A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, Interactive Media, or closely related field is required; a doctoral degree in content is preferred. Career experience in web design and development related area is highly desirable. Collegiate/adult-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have full stack web development skills (skilled at both front-end and back-end web development). This includes designing responsive, user interfaces based on client specifications and experience in the principles of design, analytics, and usability/user testing to inform design choices. The candidate will use best practice coding that adheres to web standards and semantics and are able to use scripting languages like JavaScript to enhance the functionality and performance of their designs.

Candidates should also have back-end web development skills that include creating advanced website or web application functionality using both client-side and server-side programming languages with an attention to security and version control. Comfortable with the LAMP stack and adaptable problem solvers, they should be able to use programming languages to deploy web applications with integrated server-side databases in a testing environment, on a web server, or in the cloud using agile software development techniques.

The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and technology skills, ability to work in teams, flexibility to teach day, evening, and weekend hours as needed, at our Springfield, OH campus.

Clark State Community College serves more than 6,500 students throughout the College's three campus locations in Springfield, Beavercreek and Bellefontaine, Ohio as well as our extensive offering of online classes.

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position reports to the Dean of Business and Applied Technologies and is located at the main campus in Springfield, OH. Review of application materials will begin ASAP and remain open until filled.
