Who we are:

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is New Zealand's international business development agency. We work with some of New Zealand’s most forward-thinking companies, helping them to grow internationally bigger, better, faster for the good of New Zealand.

What you’ll be doing:

Our New York City based team are looking for an ambitious and switched on Business Development consultant to help New Zealand design, textile and creative businesses enter and thrive in the U.S. market.

This is an interesting role, with loads of opportunity for you to use your valuable experience and connections. You will proactively support New Zealand companies to develop and execute their business growth plans, including identifying and providing strategic introductions, market analysis, and research. You’ll also be involved in the identification of potential in-market partners, help develop new channels to market and identify potential growth opportunities.

A superb relationship manager and collaborative team player, you will also be part of a global organisation working with colleagues in the Americas, New Zealand and our other 40 international offices to achieve the New Zealand government's economic development goals.

What you’ll need to be successful:

You’ll be someone with management level (5-8+ years) sales, marketing, account management, or consulting experience in the architecture, creative and/or design space. With commercial smarts and know-how to manage a portfolio of companies, you’ll play a key role in evaluating their strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities and supporting them with market entry and growth strategies.

Keen business acumen is critical, as is the ability to work alongside CEO's and a willingness to 'roll your sleeves up'. You will have superior communication, business consulting and relationship management skills with the ability to build rapport quickly. Well-connected in the architecture, interior design and specifiers industry, you’ll have a strong sense for doing business in the U.S.

Your enthusiastic, 'can-do' attitude, proactive nature, creative problem-solving skills and ability to work in virtual teams will be critical to your success.
