We are looking for a team-minded designer who cares deeply about clients and has a breadth of capabilities: someone who can design across a range of styles, for a range of mediums, with a primary focus on brand identity. We need a person who is confident presenting and knows how to defend their work with strategic rationale. This person should also be a conceptual and strategic thinker: someone who can interpret a brief and connect the dots, working cross-functionally with writers, strategists and project managers. We value strong communicators who are both independently responsible and highly collaborative.
What you'll do here:
Build brands across a variety of industries.
Visualize brand strategies, names and messaging personas.
Craft logos and unified identity systems that are well-defined through brand guidelines and expressed across key touchpoints (print, digital, environmental, experiential).
Present work to and collaborate with clients.
Hold responsibility over the execution of projects through all phases of the identity process—from immersions and research to design application.
Contribute concepts and executions—with others—quickly and with attention to detail, while managing our clients' business needs.
Mentorship and art direction of junior designers
Building thoughtful, creative presentations of design work.
Commit to knowing and understanding our clients and their end users—both their functional and emotional needs.
Raise the quality bar for design at Matchstic through your design work, attitude and innovation
You may be asked to travel from time to time and will have the opportunity to participate in professional development as well as firm-wide outings like Creative Mornings, lunch n learns, retreats, off-sites and milestone celebrations.
We'd love to hear from you if you:
Have a minimum of 4 years of creative agency or firm experience in identity design
Have a portfolio of strong visual identity system examples (not just logos)
Are fluent in industry tools: Illustrator, InDesign, Sketch, Photoshop
Display a deep understanding of both print production and interactive digital experiences (coding and animation are bonuses—mention them!)
Are a robust conceptual thinker
Have strong organization and communication skills with clear attention to detail
Can balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Desire and ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment
Are a strong self-starter who functions effectively with ambiguity
Have client presentation experience
