The Role: 

A Senior Product Design Engineer at PopSockets will brainstorm concepts and take their ideas through a rigorous design process requiring lots of prototyping. The individual will be responsible for managing their own CAD databases and guiding new products into production. You will own the execution/design of an entire product category. You’ll work closely with our ID, CMF, project management, manufacturing, and quality teams to develop 3D, 2D, test requirements, test equipment, and reports. Should be self-driven, flexible, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.


Oversee an entire product category and provide insight & guidance; ensuring preservation of design intent and forecasting of engineering requirements
Mentor individual contributors of various experience levels; guide employees on career path
Generate key engineering requirements for both new product architectures and existing product extensions
Recommend/implement new processes to maximize workflow
Design and develop products from concepts through the prototyping and testing phases, into 3D models, and ultimately to production
Tackle projects ranging from innovation and new product engineering to sustaining engineering and testing
Work with our Manufacturing team and vendors to find the best solutions for each project
Maintain proper documentation standards for our tech packs
Ensure quality, on-time delivery of product - own hand-offs to commercialization and Operations team
Responsible for escalation for critical ID issues that require high-level review
Understanding of the structure of PopSockets and works cross collaboratively with teams
Identify and implements opportunities for improving process
Escalate HR issues when required


Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Mastery in designing for injection molding
Must have experience managing overseas contract manufacturers
10 years of product design, preferably in high-volume consumer goods, consumer electronics, or accessories
Proficiency with CAD tools (Solidworks or Creo preferred) for 3D design and 2D drawings, experience with surfacing is a plus
Mastery of tolerance stackups, GD&T, and FAI processes
Strong understanding of material properties and manufacturing techniques
Embraces a hands-on approach with lots of quick prototyping
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%
